Becki Barns-Welsh, Ph.D.,LPC, CPLC | Play Therapist and Parent Coach
Welcome! My name is Becki Barns-Welsh, and I am first and foremost a follower of Jesus Christ. I do my best every day to live, love, and lead as He does.I am incredibly passionate about training, coaching and counseling children and parents to help them heal, learn, connect grow, and discover God's purpose for their lives. My own journey has been magnificent at times and utterly painful at others. I love to challenge others to grow, but am also compassionate about your story and want to see you change it for good.
I specialize in working with younger children (ages 2-8) and have training in child-centered and experiential play therapy, filial therapy and trauma-focused therapy for children. I know how to help what doesn't feel right with children and their families. And I would love to help your family.
I am the proud mom of two boys - 25 & 27 and two step-sons - also 25 & 27, and a grandmother to a precious little girl named Chloe born January 2017. I live in the Dallas Texas area with my husband, Greg, and love doing things like golf, tennis and basically anything outdoors! I would consider myself a laid-back girl who loves to laugh and have fun as well as have deep intimate conversations. I feel my purpose is to offer compassion, grace, and love to those who need it most.
I first began working with children in 1992. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Colorado and Texas as well as a Registered Play Therapy-Supervisor with the Association for Play Therapy. I have a Master's degree from Oklahoma City University and a certificate in Play Therapy from Capella University and a doctoral degree in counseling education and supervision. I have also worked as a Children's Minister for three large churches. I am also a Certified Life Coach through Christian Coach Institute, an ICF accredited school.
